About Hypno-Band

The Hypno-Band is the World Leader in gastric band hypnotherapy.  Hypno-Band practitioners use a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hypnotherapy to help you change your eating habits. If you are really committed to losing weight then the Hypno-Band will help you to achieve your goal. This system is designed for those clients who have a BMI over 25. The Hypno-Band is a safe, risk free and cheap alternative to Gastric Band Surgery. This is not a ‘quick fix’ solution to losing weight as weight loss has to be your priority and it requires full commitment to yourself and the system.

What is the HYPNO-BAND weight loss system?
The HYPNO-BAND System is a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy techniques that helps you explore, analyse and change your eating habits. Then using the mind/body connection, a "virtual gastric band" is fitted to your stomach, making you eat less food and less often.

Does it involve surgery?
No

Does it hurt?
No. The HYPNO-BAND procedure is extremely relaxing and pleasurable.

Are there side effects?
No. There are no side effects associated with undergoing this procedure.

So it's safe?
Yes. the HYPNO-BAND system is perfectly safe.

Will I be under your control?
No hypnotherapist can make you do anything you do not want to do or make you behave in a way you would not normally behave.

Am I suitable for the HYPNO-BAND weight loss system?
If you are over-weight with a BMI over 25 and really want to lose weight and will make a full commit to the hypno-band system, then you may be suitable. The only exceptions that may cause concern would be if there’s a physiological reason for your weight problem, you have either severe depression, epilepsy or if you are taking certain medications. Your suitability will be assessed at your initial consultation.

Will it work for me?
The key to success is YOU! No weight loss system will work unless you are fully committed and serious about losing weight. You must be prepared to change your eating habits and make some life-style changes. The HYPNO-BAND system provides you with the tools and ability to lose weight and maintain a healthier body.

Is it guaranteed?
Like any medical or therapy procedure there can be no definite guarantee - hospital surgeons cannot guarantee that an actual gastric band will work following the operation. However, the virtual gastric band has been proven to be effective in aiding significant weight loss. It should be noted that it is YOU that holds the key to losing weight as no system will work if you are not 100% committed to yourself as well as the system. The mind is a very powerful instrument and by using the HYPNO-BAND system you will have the tools and power to change your eating habits and remain at your ideal weight.

How much does the system cost?
The full cost of the hypno-band weight loss system is £400 compared to a real gastric band which may cost in the region of £7000. This system is a four session course and has on-going support and reassurance by e-mail/text or call for a further four weeks or so. Hypnosis occurs three times in these four sessions. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT-tapping) may also be incorporated into one of the sessions if it is needed.  EFT is a powerful technique highly recommended for use with cravings and it is simple to do, painless but very effective.

Why have a Gastric Band Fitted?
Your BMI measurement is an indication of whether you are a healthy weight for your height and it is an indication of your health risks. Your Base Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the amount of calories your body requires to survive each day at rest. In reality Gastric Band surgery is usually only performed if a person has a Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement of 40 or over. However, it may be possible for a person with a BMI between 30 and 40 to have this surgery if they have other medical conditions and therefore would greatly benefit from having a gastric band fitted. Obesity can affect your life expectancy and it can be responsible for conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes Type II, stroke, cancer, joint problems such as osteoarthritis and high blood pressure. The hypno-band system is suitable if your BMI reading is over 25. A BMI between 18 and 25 is regarded as "Normal", if it is between 25 and 30 it is classed as "Overweight" and a BMI between 30 and 40 is classified as "Obese". If you have a BMI over 40 you are classed as "Morbidly Obese."

What does a GB looks like?
A gastric band is a thin belt which is made up of three parts: the cuff, tube and port/buckle. It is made of silicone as this is a substance that the body accepts and rarely opposes. The cuff part of the band clips together around the top part of your stomach wall and this is illustrated in the diagram. The tube is securely attached to the cuff and also to the port/buckle. The port/buckle looks a little like a stethoscope that is used for taking your blood pressure. This tiny port/buckle will be placed and remain under the skin to allow your gastric band to be adjusted in the future if necessary. The cuff around the upper part of your stomach wall needs to be tightened to restrict the amount of food that it holds and is therefore inflated with sterile liquid through the rubber centre of a port/buckle. The gastric band holds between 4-12cc of this sterile liquid. This liquid injected into the port/buckle expands and fills the tube and the cuff around the stomach wall. The more liquid injected into the tube, the tighter the cuff becomes until the band safely divides the stomach into two parts. Remember you are hypnotically accepting that your stomach is divided now into two parts You will also accept that the upper part of the stomach restricts the amount of food that can be introduced and stored in it, allowing your stomach to take longer to empty its contents from one part to the other and therefore feel fuller for a longer period of time.

What is a laparoscope?

The laparoscope is a long thin metal slightly flexible tube which acts like a telescope inside of your abdomen. It is attached to a TV monitor to enable the surgeon to see exactly what he is doing in detail on its screen at every stage of the operation. There are also four other hollow thin metal tubes used in the operation which are inserted into your abdominal wall and they are called rods/trocars. They allow the surgeon to insert instruments inside of them that are needed during the operation. Instruments used during the operation may be: forceps, grabbers, scissors, diathermy instrument (cauterises the blood vessels), suction tube and most importantly a fibre optic light to illuminate the field where the surgeon is working. The abdomen is usually inflated with carbon dioxide gas to allow the abdominal wall to become raised above the organs and separate layers inside of your tummy. This gas can be absorbed by tissues and later removed by your respiratory and digestive system usually within hours of the operation. The client is told that after the hypnotic gastric band procedure they must go home and rest as they will feel as if they have had a real operation.
